So... after Asky the fuzzy blue squidopus, my boyfriend asked for a fuzzy orange whale for his Christmas present.
I found the perfect pattern [here] and 2 yards of curly orange fur from eBay and sat and stared for a while until I felt like actually starting. (I was knitting my first scarf at the time so I was actually busy with something else.) Since I had so much of the orange fur, I decided to make the whale quite large. Downy's about the size of a regular bed pillow and 2 1/2 -3 inches thick. I added fins since maddiekins' pattern didn't have any.
OH MY GOD. There was orange fur every freaking where when I cut out the shapes (My dad was pissed).... and I was even stupid enough to not flip the pattern before I cut out the opposite body piece.... which meant that when I flipped it inside out, it would be wrong. :P So... luckily I had enough fabric left (more than enough) to cut out another piece.
Ok, enough talking. Here are the pics:
Here's the basic profile view. Yes, as you can see... he does look a bit mentally challenged.
Here's the front view of him. See? He's not very fat. :D
And here's his eyeball! It's 2 buttons. The bottom one is a standard button with 4 holes which was actually black and I spray painted it white. The top one is a flat black button with holes through the middle/sides and I painted it with blue metallic nail polish and white acrylic paint for the eye shiny and sealed it with acrylic sealer.
My bf and I discussed he looked mentally challenged due to the fact he had no mouth and the watery-puppy-dog eyeballs added to it.
Downy and Asky are now stars in a new stop motion animation film by my boyfriend which can be seen [here]!
Welcome to JWo Designs!
Welcome to my craft blog, JWo Designs. I'm Jessica and I'm a first year BSN-RN nurse working nights. When I'm not sleeping my days away after exhausting nights of work, I craft. I am also engaged to the best guy ever and we plan to marry October 2011. So, wedding crafts galore! My favorite mediums of crafting are sewing, knitting, polymer clay, drawing/painting, and jewelry making.
I'm constantly trying new crafts as well. Occasionally, I post tutorials and patterns so check back for some goodies! Thanks for stopping by and enjoy your stay.

OMG. You are my new best friend. I was looking at all your amazing plushies and crafts, then I saw this whale! It's so hilarious, and the name for it made me laugh out loud in my crowed computer room.
